I remember an ADXA meeting at Lenny and Norma’s house. We walked down and saw the vertical arrays and studied his yagis. One of the yagis had a boom with an upward bow. He explained that it had been bent down by ice and he simply turned it upside down. I remember he had either hardline or very large coax laying all over the yard. I think someone in that area had acquired thousands of feet of the cable (Walt Cuga?). I wondered how he was able to mow without cutting some of it. He showed us a big antenna switch, about 10 positions, that he was building on his workbench, which was right next to the rig. That made it easier to keep up with who was on, I’m sure.
Lenny and Norma were at most of the picnics, too. I always enjoyed talking to them, and Lenny was always so nice to me, even though I was pretty young and not at the same level of DX’ing as he was. I was sad when he moved away, and really hate to lose someone like Lenny. Lenny was unforgettable, though, so those memories will stay with us.
