Greetings ADXA BIG GUNS and little pistols,
As a follow up to my post yesterday, here are a few upcoming summertime radio activities that may help cure the "Summertime Blues":
May 18 - Contest University Dayton
May 19-21 - Dayton Hamvention
May 20 - Arkansas QSO Party
June 10-11 ARRL VHF Contest (best VHF contest to pick up some FFMA grids and maybe some DX)
June 14-20 W1AW/5 Arkansas VOTA Operation (contact W5ZN, K5DB, or W5RZ)
June 24-25 ARRL Field Day
July 8-9 IARU HF World Championship (WRTC occurs this year during this contest)
July 28-29 Central States VHF Society Conference Little Rock, AR (opportunity to learn more about six meter DX'ing, grid chasing, and to talk to some VHF BIG GUNS)
The regular date for our 2nd Quarter meeting is June 17. That presents a problem of sorts as this is during the weekend of the W1AW/5 Arkansas VOTA operation. While that does not directly impact our meeting, the North Central Arkansas Amateur Radio Service (Searcy club) will be operating from my station Saturday and Sunday and I will not be available. Neither will most (if not all) of the ADXA Searcy members. The ADXA board was not unanimous as to whether we should move the meeting date.
The ADXA board was unanimous in selecting the date for our annual conference. It will be held on November 11. The location has not yet been finalized.
For those who will be at Contest University or the Dayton Hamvention, I'll see you next week. I have two presentations at CTU on Thursday and will be on duty at the IARU booth (in ARRL Expo area) at Hamvention on Friday and Saturday.
