After reading LA7GIA’s comments on DX World, Feb 15th at 11:30Z and seeing the 6 minute video of the landing of equipment and food being floated ashore by connecting ropes, etc, I have more respect for the team’s efforts on 3Y0J. Unpredictable weather was the culprit.
And using two barefoot, small rigs on top of trash cans with NO seats or desks in the small tarp tent, things looked so hard to operate at all. And sleeping outside at times of setups, only wearing water repellant outfits, I do not think I could ever have “weathered the storm” on a trip like this!
Long story short : Read DX World’s update for today, February 15th. Read the personal description of LA7GIA and watch the videos, especially the 6 minute version with stuff being floated to shore and the extreme efforts being required, etc. I have a different outlook than I did yesterday and wonder if any other DXpedition attempts could have done any better. Maybe the other ‘planned trip’ for next year by another group (if it comes off) will weather the storm?
