Great memories, guys.

Native of NE AR, my folks took us to Memphis around 1962. We stopped at a Radio Shack and Dad bought me and older brother new little cheap transistor radios that had just come out.  Shortly thereafter, we moved to Toledo, OH for about 6 years, and I remember listening to WJR (Detroit) and sometimes WLS at night in bed. It helped take my mind off the GE Jet Engine Factory that was across the highway from the back of the apts where we first moved, hi.

Dave loved the radio and he had one in his old pickup truck. I can remember (maybe I was around 5 yo) he took me on some errands one day and we stopped on the side of the road to eat a snack and listen to Paul Harvey. Will always remember that.

Pat,

Oh the memories ....  those of us of similar ages, hihi.  50,000 Watt clear channel WLS was all we listened too at night in those days.  My first transistor radio ran through many batteries listening late into the night, unbeknownst to my parents (yeah, right! ....  LOL).

Thanks for sharing George.  Happy Birthday and Wedding Anniversary to both of you.

Nice to have a smooth talking celebrity in our ranks.  Still have any of your audition tapes San??

My favorite DJ from the early 60’s was Dick Biondi (spelling?) on WLS, 890AM, Chicago.  He eventually got fired for inappropriate comments related to miniskirts.
