Jon:

The supercharged Studebaker Avanti was a great machine: styling way ahead of it’s time!

This is the one I had my Senior year in college: a ’63 R2 Automatic.

That garage was at my Burlington, VT studio apartment (7/1965 to 10/1966): an extra $8/month added to my $65/month with all utilities. It had lights, a workbench and cement floor!  I kept both while I was at Basics at Amarillo AFB right after UVM graduation and my 90-day OJT with the VT Air National Guard as Ground Radio Operator.  My NCOIC could do 35 wpm and hold a conversation at the same time!  I had a BC-342/BC-610 station when I got there, but the Radar Shop felt sorry for me and built a Heath SB-station as a training aid for themselves and presented it to me within my first six weeks!

I got set up on 2M FM that summer for the first time with a 25 watt Motorola desk top unit.  My HF station was back at the farm.
