Once you get there it will be fun. The hardest part is getting there it would seem. The week flies by too fast, at least it did for me. I wish I had done more (I had the chance) when I was younger and could travel better back then! That Suriname trip I made I will still working and not sure how I pulled that off looking back.
Anyway funny how we can remember being on an Ancient mode like SSB, LOL
It is always fun to chase DX with ADXA members!

Yes it was! You remembered! HI I hope my health holds out and I can get to CY0S, but March is a BAD month, windy and cold, down into the 20s F… Screwball airline flights to Halifax Nova Scotia, etc are depressing, especially with delays and last minute cancellations Ugggh. We shall see!

I will for sure look for you on CY0S!
Didn’t you and I work a CY0 on 6m SSB a few years back almost at the same time? Maybe that was LBFT8 (life before FT8) 😊

Jay:
My hobby of DXing and DXpeditions drastically stopped for a while in summer of 1983 when I had to forget the ham hobby as “full time” and concentrate on family medical practice, being on call every other night and weekend and needing to put 2 kids at the time through college and arrange their support for 4 years. I continued to chase DX on weekends if I was not on call and some evenings if not having to be at the hospital ER “on call”.. my vacations were limited to a week at a time and only twice a year and one CME allowed for one 3 day weekend.
Not until 2001 did I return to DXpedition work but moreso with the group approach and not “solo”. Working on DXpedition for 18-20 hours a day gave way to 3-4 hours at the operating position and doing that 2-3 times a day and enjoying the country and the other operators’ conversations and getting some GOOD sleep each night.. 👍😉 So things started again in Namibia as K5YY/V51 in 2001 right after the 9-11 ‘situation’ and has continued up until now, mainly on multiop trips...
My last trip will be over soon with CY0S in March 2023. Family takes up most of my time now and I am happy to continue that scenario. HI
San Go get ‘em Jay. The other ADXA guys are chasing hard now with a lot of stuff going on! 😄

Retirement is suppose to be fun, but I wish I was still working OT and was 20 years younger. The Westark times were indeed the best for me. Loved that Dan Page BTW, but he wasn’t a ham>>>> sadly.

Good discussion Jay and great memories of the old days down south in Fort Smith.. HI
Hey, to each his own. We here on the ADXA chat forum enjoy other people discussing things of interest, sometimes changing our opinions and sometimes just us chiming in with our opinions or giving data, etc.. TU again. A hobby is not a business venture where you must be at the top of your game at all times. Retirement is fun, right Jay? 😊
