Hey John BHS - next time we're together let's think up some really weird and wild stories (false, of course) to tell on George about that Russellville trip I mentioned. Based on the below, he won't remember and we can really have some fun with this !!!!!!!!

Actually, you were one of the "youngest" hams I ever met.  Fun times for sure, I think.  Next paragraph explains that statement.

Unfortunately John can attest to this, but a lot of my 1970's to 1990's era memories are getting lost in the "fog" of FIFO clutter, mostly on purpose.  Some things really stand out (EEROM) while others are probably lost forever (RAM).  John gets so frustrated with me when he starts telling a story of something we did and says "you don't remember this do you?".  I don't and wonder if he's just making up our time together for a good story or what.  So I just take his word for what he says we did back then and I  sometimes cringe.  They all sound plausible anyway.  Maybe some things were so traumatic that I've just blocked and deleted them for my sanity's sake.  But most of my teenage and Navy days are well remembered, but some details might be drifting away from what actually happened.  It's all good.

Luckly, I'm still in control of most current thought processes and have adapted to modern day technology as it has evolved in the past 30-40 years.  For that I'm exceedingly happy.  I've been to 53 of the DXCC entities, but I've only worked about half of those and hope to visit a few more soon.  In April, I will complete 50 years of being a Ham and I've enjoyed every day and the friends I've met from all over the world, even if I don't remember them all now.

And thanks to everybody on here and Facebook that wished me a Happy Birthday.  I had a planned dinner party on Saturday night with some friends and on Sunday lunch, a surprise get together.  I see all these folks on a frequent basis, but seldom all at once.  It was a great weekend.

I'll shut up now.

All kidding aside, happy birthday George. Your turning 75 targets a time in history that I couldn't recall all the time details on.

I first met you about 50 years ago. I was 15 and didn't have an unrestricted driver's license yet. My parents had some event in Russellville. I knew John BHS as we talked on the radio and I told him about it in passing. He said why don't you ride over with them and we can "hang out" together, so I did. You, of course, were old enough to drive AND.....had a car !!!!! You and John drove over and picked me up and we went over to Frank Hotard, W5BLP (Big Lovin' Papa) house for a visit.

A few hours later I was dropped off at the location where my parents were and headed back to Searcy.

Good times.
