Thanks to everyone who was able to attend yesterday's 1st Quarter Meeting. Glenn, N5RN, has the "official" count ont he sign-in sheet but I believe we had 26 from all over the state. I was pleased to see Bill, K5FUV, and Chuck, KM5G, able to make the trek down from NW Arkansas.
We were also honored to have ARRL President K5UR, ARRL Delta Division Director K5UZ, and ARRL Arkansas Section Manger N5LKE, who are all ADXA members, attending. These folks have a high demand for their time and requests to attend over a dozen events each weekend so we were very fortunate to have them with us. They provided an excellent ARRL report and we appreciate the work they do! Thanks Rick, David, and J.
We had about 12 ADXA members participate in our "New Countries Worked" competition. This included all time new ones and new band countries worked since September 1, 2021. We not only had some of our new ADXA members and members with lower DXCC totals but also a couple of old dogs (K5EJ & K5FUV) in the chase! When the dust settled the top three left standing and their totals were:
WB5BHS John - 120 ($50 DX Engineering Gift Certification winner)
K1LEC Lanny - 102 ($25 DX Engineering Gift Certification winner)
WB5JJJ George - 78 ($25 DX Engineering Gift Certification winner)
As I previously noted we were very pleased to see this become more popular than previously thought so get ready for another competition at our annual meeting. The period will run form March 13 until the date of the annual meeting so you know what to do until then "GET IN THERE AND WORK 'EM!"
In other business, we will send $200 to support the FT5W Crozet DXpedition. As this effort progresses we will review for possible additional funding. We are also following the 3Y0J Bouvet DXpedition progress for a possible additional $500 contribution.
We also discussed a potential donation to Club Log and possibly to Scott, KA9FOX, who supports the ADXA website on QTH.com. These were simply discussion items for possible future action.
Thanks again for attending. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with everyone. The full minutes of the business meeting will appear in the 2nd Quarter Newsletter.
The 2nd Quarterly Meeting is currently scheduled for June 18, location to be determined.
