Hi Trent,
If you add a few more programs like GridTracker, JTAlert, etc along with WSJT-X then it becomes more educational and entertaining. Sort of like a super high tech video game in where you learn more about the DX station in a few seconds than you possibly could many minutes into a voice QSO. Plus they give you added incentive to go on the hunt for new DX. In fact I like to try and clean the board in JTAlert. Many YouTube videos on the above. Let Google be your friend.

BTW, I'm am not against any voice modes like AM or SSB. In fact I love all phone modes!  I guess you could say I'm an ALL mode operator.

Just saying this is just the beginning of another very cool mode. It just depends, like anything else, "How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?" :-)

In a few weeks, if you begin to think WSJT-X is boring and is much like watching paint dry, give the above programs a try and see if you don't agree they provide additional value in DXing.

Still learning something new everyday. 73 Jay

Because I’m not much of a CW guy I haven’t been on 30 meters very much. But now that I have FT8 up and running on my 7700, I thought I’d give it a try. In just a few minutes I worked PJ4, ZS, and IK.  Now I’ll be obsessed with DXCC of course!
