John, KT4AC, has provided updated DXCC standings information. He has raised his Mixed total to 298 and has been taking advantage of higher MUFs to add nearly 60 band multipliers. Nice progress John.
Bands have been jumping lately. Robert, S53R, is QRV from Kathmandu as 9N7AA. He was on 30M FT8 on 2/14 and was very strong on the long path. This morning he was on 17M CW (18.074) with a nice signal. Check out his page on QRZ…nice Ultrabeam on the roof.
My first 9N was the 9N1MD DXpedition in 2011. I worked them on 20M RTTY and the operator was Luis, XE1L (SK). I had visited with Luis at the Dayton DX Dinner that year and asked him to listen for the weak station from AR in the pileups from 9N. He was a very interesting fellow and after a short conversation made you feel like an old friend. As I recall he died of a heart attack shortly after returning from a DXpediton….maybe Clipperton?
