Congratulations, Nick. I THINK I still have my novice license, WN5KGJ, dated 2-4-1955. Yep, in just a few short weeks I will celebrate 67 years on the air. My QRZ page chronicles
most of my early days, but I can sure recall working my first DX - KH6, WH6BLI, in that first year on the 40 meter novice band and then two years later meeting him and other WH6’s I had worked when I was one of 4 teens from the USA to go to Japan for a Junior
Red Cross study visit. Also, while at JA, I dropped in on the MARS station at Gifu Air Base and ran off a few Q’s from KA3GG – what a blast, especially working a UA0 which at the time, I think was verboten for those of us in the USA. I remember 20 years
or so later working Dennis, W5IZ, on 20 SSB from Fort Smith, while he was stationed in Japan.
As for being an old guy, I may be the oldest in ADXA – 80 last August. It is great to be among you
😊

Hey, I just realized over breakfast that this is an important date. I became a ham 60 years ago. If you don't believe me, ask C.B. Plummer or Ben F. Waple.

So, maybe time for a brief QSO in between naps.
Give me a call on:

7027 kHz 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM or 1530 to 1630Z
14035 kHz 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM or 1700 - 1800Z
