I had another thought you may terminate your radio into a dummy load. That pretty much takes away RFI coming into the antenna. If you still hear the noise then it's coming in Via a different path. More likely the display or the laptops power supply.
Once you get it figured out where the noise is coming from and how you can apply various methods to remedy this. 73 Jay

I don't think it's from the settings or I can't think of any settings that would cause this. More likely noise from the computer and or monitor. Are you running the laptop? 73 Jay

Not always, so it seems to be conditions related, but often while I am listening an otherwise quiet band and hear a faint station, when I turn on CW Skimmer I get more noise--sometimes enough to wipe out the station I hear. I've looked at settings in CWS and even experimented with them but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any clue as to what might cause this?
