And BEHAVE YOURSELF!!! DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO WORK THE DX STATION
OUTSIDE YOUR AUTHORIZATION as some malcontent's in the USA with a self
serving attitude have done.
Just a quick note as I am on the road and going into a meeting, but Iwant to reinforce what Joel said. Government agencies we share 60 meters with watch our behavior like ahawk. Be careful. 73, Rick - K5UR Sent from my iPhone-----Original Message-----From: [email protected]To: [email protected]Sent: Fri, Oct 15, 2021 4:16 pmSubject: [ADXA] 60 MetersADXA Folks, There has been renewed 60 meter (5 MHz) discussion now that DXpeditionshave fired back up. I want to make sure everyone understands thatcontacts on 5 MHz, the 60 meter band, do NOT.....repeat do NOT count forany ARRL operating award and that includes DXCC! The amateur radio service has access to this band on a shared basis. Thestated purpose in convincing the United States government to allowaccess by radio amateurs on a secondary, non-interfering bases is foremergency communications in order to bridge the propagation gap between80/75 meters and 40 meters. As such, ARRL does not permit credits forany award from contacts confirmed on this band, including the Mixed DXCCaward. So, if you have a 60 meter contact that you intend to submit for DXCCcredit in the Mixed, Phone, CW or Digital DXCC you will need to submit avalid confirmed contact from another band. A confirmed 5 MHz contactwill NOT be credited. Also, please pay specific attention to the frequencies that UnitedStates radio amateurs are authorized to operate on in the 5 MHz band. Weare only authorized five discreet, fixed frequency "channels". Some ofthe DXpedition operation on voice and CW has NOT been on these USAauthorized frequencies. The DXpedition was legally authorized by thegovernment issuing their license to do so however our regulations andauthorizations are different in some cases. Just want to make sure we're all clear on this point. Its fun to work DXstations on 60 meters, just don't expect to receive any awardrecognition for it. And BEHAVE YOURSELF!!! DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO WORK THEDX STATION OUTSIDE YOUR AUTHORIZATION as some malcontent's in the USAwith a self serving attitude have done. Doing so places the UnitedStates 5 MHz allocation for the amateur radio service in jeopardy (andI'm not talking the game show!). 73 Joel W5ZN______________________________________________________________ADXA mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/adxaHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:[email protected]This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net [1]Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html [2] Links:------[1] http://www.qsl.net/[2] http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
