Greetings all,
Had to get up at 1:30 am (local) this morning. Checked the radio and Masa (A35JP) on Tonga was working 40m FT8. After just a bit he posted QSY to FT4, so I switched to 7.0475 and callers (mostly JA) were already lined up. Took me a good 20-30 minutes to find a break from the JAs and he became lonely and came back to me, hi. In the log, and he confirmed on LOTW later this morning.
I checked the spots and saw 3D2CR but passed it off as Figi. This morning after sunup, I took the time to check the call and saw that Masa had gone on the air from Conway Reef! He came back to me with a -12, but 40m was already fading and the signal strength was not there to complete a call. Check his QRZ page for a list of modes and frequencies he will be using. He has a strong station and should be fairly easy to pick up, especially if you can work 17m.
