[ADXA] The Broadcast Uniform

Thanks for the history on this Joel! While never being part of the group on 3937, most of my education came from there. 


Your are correct on the broadcast uniform being pretty much standard attire. This is one of my pet peeves (for real). From time to time I hear of kids having pajama day at school as a reward for doing good. I am totally against it, as it teaches the kids to dress inappropriately in public...


However, I do not have an issue with broadcast uniforms being worn from the house to the shack from 30 minutes after sundown, as long as said wearer has returned to the house by 30 minutes before sunrise. Tennis shoes optional, but fuzzy slippers are absolutely banned. 


Thanks for the clarity on this. The guys on 3937 were absolutely hilarious.

You are correct, Randy, however I cannot claim originality for the phrase.
 
I believe most know that 3937 KHz (and 3948 for a period in the early 70’s) is the morning watering hole for Arkansas chatter (the polite term for “BS”). I’ve been around there since about 1973. One of the original participants of the group was ADXA founding member Dick Freeling, W5TIZ (SK). 
 
William “Judge” DuVall, W5FQX (SK) was one of the ramrods of the group and he is the originator of the phrase. He was not a judge of any kind but had that “nickname” title. He would get up each morning and go to the radio in his pajamas during his morning check in and when he was ready to get on with his day and check out, he would note it was time to get out of his “broadcast uniform”. I just simply carried on the tradition after the Judge became SK.
 
In today’s society I guess if your morning activity involves going to WalMart (or most any place in public, it seems) there is no need to get out of one’s “broadcast uniform”!

Just to clarify things on the broadcast uniform...THIS IS NOT MY FAULT I only used this terminology because I had heard it before on 3.937mhz (a non-ft8 frequency) a few years ago. If I am not mistaken "Broadcast Uniform" was coined by our very own ZN!  ZJ was merely referencing what I deemed the definition of "Broadcast Uniform" as being "somewhat less than Sunday go to meeting attire"....well maybe a lot less than Sunday go to meeting attire...
 
That is all....for now....glad there were no street lights to shed more light on the subject.
