Roger that, Jussi. – It had to be a pirate. If it was authentic,
I’m sure the news would be all over the DX outlets.
The only inhabitants on Aves Island are stationed at a small Venezuelan naval scientific outpost.
To my knowledge, the last major DXpedition there was in 2007, YWØDX, which took
14 years of planning. It appears access to the island is heavily restricted by the
Venezuelan military and the central government in Caracas.
I worked ‘em 4 times, but could use more band counters for that one.
