Thanks Randy.

Well first, I was running the amplifier but I do NOT, repeat NOT exceed 1500 watts. That is a fact. I believe in having very effective gain antennas. There is no reason to run excessive power.

The 160-meter TX antenna is a 5-element parasitic vertical array that has three elements (reflector, driven element, director) active in any one of four directions (NE, SE, SW, NW). It is a K3LR design described in “Low Band DX’ing” and in an article I wrote for the National Contest Journal.

For RX antennas, even through I have several my main “go to” two in use last night was the Broad-Side/End-Fire 8 vertical array (24 ft tall verticals in a 350 ft diameter circle) on RX1 and a HiZ-8 vertical array (24 ft tall verticals in a 200 ft diameter circle) on RX2 in diversity receive. I did not take time to see if I could hear 3Y on the YCCC-9 or the SE Beverage.

The specifics of all of these antennas can be seen on my website.

Congratulations on the catch of a lifetime on 160. My buddy K3SX was listening at the same time and nothing heard in MD. Of course I want to hear all the antenna details. I won’t ask about the amp and will assume 100 watts😜

We all need Bouvet somewhere, either for an all time new one or a band/mode counter. I needed Bouvet on 160 meters. You all already know that is the band I am passionately focused on in my march to the 300 mark.

Last night I was fortunate to catch them at the end of our SS peak at 0110z and complete a solid contact. It is confirmed in the log. This was #293 on 160 meters. To say I am ecstatic is an understatement.

Congrats to all who have picked up a new one and GL to all the ADXA folks still in the hunt. DON’T GIVE UP!

The pileups have hair all over them and look like Chewbacca, but that doesn’t matter to ADXA members. What matters to us is that we “GET IN THERE!”
