I wish I had one of those Star Trek transporters and I could materialize in your yard to help!! Whats going on with YCCC?

Long run control cables are problematic. I already wish I had upgraded from the recommended 20 gauge wire

I need a repair on one of the YCCC-9 vertical elements that occurred sometime over the past couple of days. Since you’re already “suited up” and conditioned to the cold, want to come down and help a poor, helpless ham buddy out??? ??

Seems like a lot of us are having weather related stories. My 160 m array quit “arrayin” Yesterday. No directivity. Did some checks on continuity of the control cable and got Some high resistance values consistent with leakage and a broken cable. I have about a 400 foot run to the base of the tower. We we still have several inches of snow on the ground that is covered with a sheet of ice so I started at the base of the tower and worked my way in to the house, breaking the ice and inspecting the cable. Everything Looked good until of course about 5 feet from where it enters the house. See picture. These varmints like the ice covering so they can run wild under that chewing anything in their path. Did the repair and now it’s working.

73’s in good DX
