Andy was doing an excellent job on the 160 pileup. When I was hearing him, several times he would keep repeating a call and signal so the the calling station would finally hear him. It will be an uphill battle on 160 cw at my power level. I may have a shot on 80. Sid told me he showed up on 80 last night. I've had a head cold since Saturday night, and I crashed too early.
I also went back and looked at pskreporter and apparently 160 opened up pretty good at some point. Fortunate to get J51A ft8 on 160.
Starting some preliminary work on getting a couple more horsepower on the TX side.
Tell Andy I was impressed!

Randy,
DL8LAS, Andy, who was the 160 op last night, is a friend of mine and an experienced and excellent 160 op. He will be back on and you will have more chances, keep lsning and trying. He told me they have some local noise at the location but it is not too bad and can hear fairly well. He said he plans to be on 80 CW tonight but back on 160 CW the next, or that is the plan. He went to 1837 FT8 for a while after CW died out, or he couldn’t hear anyone else. I don’t know if you were on then or not. I saw ole K5FUV nab a Q with them while I was watching things remote from the recliner in den while watching John Wayne clean out all the bad guys!!! 😊
For me personally, it is refreshing to see a DXpedition with real a 160 meter effort instead of boasting about a “focus on 160” then coming on the band for just 3 minutes and declaring it dead and moving on. As you well know from your experience on 160 that shows a complete lack of understanding of low band propagation.
I did not need J5 for a new one on 160 but I just couldn’t resist the fun of walking over a bunch of east coast callers when I worked them……so did K5UR !!!! (hee hee)

That receiver sounds really good! The 991a is almost painful to listen to when it really matters. No luck working him CW, but was happy just to be able to hear him part of the time.
I thought ZN was talking about my signal for a minute, until I realized he was talking about the DX.
