[ADXA] Email Reflector

ADXA Folks,

I did NOT mean to create a BIG THREAD about this topic. So please don’t take it to that level.

I am just tired of spending time out of my day, EVERY DAY, to address some issue with the old, antiquated email server.

I’ve already received several comments, most directly to me, about this. So for now, I respectfully request you not make my day any more complicated that it already is. As simple yes or no will suffice.

Thanks for understanding.

groups.io <http://groups.io> email will go to whatever email service you want. No need to have "another window" open at all once you set it up. Your email from groups.io <http://groups.io> will operate just like what we have now, just from a different email server that you control how it handles your messages.

By default, groups.io <http://groups.io> is just a "reflector" that sends all messages to your sign in email account. You have to actually turn that feature off if you don't want email. I leave it on at first to see what type of traffic there is in a new group, then go into groups.io <http://groups.io> subscriptions and turn it off.

I don't need another window open to deal with nor another email type service to pull up and look at. I have two separate ones now that have to be monitored constantly. So "no" for me.

I have been using groups.io <http://groups.io> for years with many forums and find it a great way to really control how I keep in touch.

I have ALL of my groups.io <http://groups.io> subscriptions set to NO EMAIL. Sounds kinda counterproductive, but think about it. When I have time and WANT to see what's going on, I simply go to my groups.io <http://groups.io> page and check the forums. Every forum (thread) has a time stamp on it, so no big problem.

Having said that, I will NOT set my ADXA to no email as what happens in our little group is really much more time sensitive, where the others are more of an "informational" type group. See, you can have it both ways.

My vote is to go for it. Use both for a while and see which one wins. I'll bet groups.io <http://groups.io> works its way to the top of the pile rather quickly. True the free version does not allow attachments, like many of my groups are, but overall will it be a "killer" decision -- I don't think so.

ADXA Folks,

I believe it is time to migrate over to a groups.io <http://groups.io> email server. We are simply experiencing too many issues with the mailman system. As email providers ramp up security to combat SPAM and phishing email, older email reflector systems just don’t react well to the new protocol our email providers have implemented.

It is a weekly event, sometimes twice weekly, that the system kicks out a group of folks and we have to go in and manually clear the rejection. There is no reason we can identify why this occurs. It is not the same folks that get removed, but various different groups at different times. We are now experiencing some who are unable to post to the reflector, as the system simply will not accept an email from a legitimate address that is correctly entered into the system.

As we have explained before, we can establish a free groups.io <http://groups.io> account that will accommodate up to 100 subscribers, well within our group number, but we will not be able to include attachments in the email. That is available for paid subscriber groups and the cost is outside of what ADXA could afford at this time.

So, does anyone object to establishing a groups.io <http://groups.io> ADXA account? We would do so but in the interim retain the old mailman server and see how things go. This would mean you would, for a temporary time, receive two copies of each posting. One from the old mailman system and one from the new groups.io <http://groups.io> system. Of course, if you’re one of the folks continually experiencing issues with the old system you may only receive one!!!! 😊

Again, does anyone object/
