[ADXA] Applying what I learned to the pennant

     It was a very informative meeting. Debbie and I have been made to feel at home with this group and we appreciate both the members graciousness as well as the leadership team.  Thank you all!

     The media converter Joel described is an answer to one of our issues, while our internet is fiber to the house, we have around 600 ft of cat 6 buried to the towers, all our rotor and antenna switches are ip controlled, I successfully remoted my whole operating position, still working on Debbie’s!
      The 4 square presentation answered some of my questions as well as opened up another dealing with static dissipation, like a lot of antennas the location of the installation drives certain issues. And I was given a heads up by a ham that lived many years in the location Debbie and I are moving to, static is an issue. At this point I have stumbled across 2 methods of dealing with the issue and neither is terrible expensive.
So again thanks to the guys that have been on the firing line and have done such a great job, to the guys taking up the challenge!

While it was fresh on my mind, today I did some verification and made some changes on the broadside phased pennant. As I have mentioned before my initial results have been less than stellar.

1. I widened the spacing from 175 feet to 210 feet which is about as much room as I have.

2. I verified my phasing lines by using the analyzer as per Joel’s brief lesson on analyzer use. Apparently the velocity factor of .81 I used for foam rg6 was pretty close as the analyzer confirmed, so no changes were made there. See pictures 2 and 3 for those measurements.

3 Per EJ’s presentation, I added some 31 mix ferrites at each antenna feed point, and at the radio end of the feed line. Pic1 is the current readings in the shack. Just think…a few days ago, I couldn’t even spell “commin mode”, and now it is something I’m losing sleep over.

Gonna let this antenna run and see what happens. The analyzer shows a tiny bit of improvement over the initial install. Pics 4 and 5 are the initial install in the shack and at the tee. Please note that I did not use 1840 to test. For some reason the analyzer doesn’t work there. ; )
