We enjoy the benefits of membership in organizations and often don’t
realize how much effort is required to lead those groups. A president
starts out with a vision to make things better, and knows that it might
take awhile. If things go well, it becomes a job for life. There are
more details than you can imagine to take care of, things to worry about,
and those “whatever I do will make half the people mad” situations.
I’ve been to a meeting of a large radio club where it came down to finding
a secretary/treasurer or disbanding. Those who serve as officers are truly
to be appreciated. Joel has kept ADXA in fighting condition when many of
us are aging and able to do less, and when most young folks think
communication is a new Iphone. I’m proud to be a member and I appreciate
his years of hard work and service.
Pat has been steadfast for years and has done a lot that we have seen, and
a lot we don’t realize. I appreciate you, too, Pat.
Glenn just hangs in there and makes sure the nuts and bolts (important
staff!) get done - that’s money, records, and the newsletter. If I had
been at the meeting, I would have proposed that we give him a 25% bonus
this year.
Jay is a lifelong friend, and has been well known and respected in many
circles (even QRP!). I was pleased to see that he will be the president,
and things will be in good hands. As a bonus, it’s great that Kathy is
part of the deal.
In the enigmatic words of Hugh Cassidy, “DX IS!”
73,
Dennis/RZ
