He was on my speed dial for some time as we worked through some ICOM
issues. On a couple of occasions, he even CALLED ME to make sure his
latest fix he had sent me directly, cleared up the problem.
He had mentioned over the past few months on several forums, that he was in
rapidly ailing health. He said he just could not keep up the pace he was
used to and really wanted somebody to take over hamlib operations - like
NOW. That scared me, but I knew I was not even close to his league
capabilities.
I didn't see any volunteers online, but I'm sure he got some backup from
other talented hams once he asked so publicly. I sure hope so.
