Kudos to Stan's (K5GO) post on TowerTalk of suggested methods that I've modified a bit.
This morning, I've tackled the job of cleaning up some very old tubing from various ham's retirement fund piles for reuse. Some sections have been telescoped together for probably over 25+ years. I thought some of ADXA might be interested in the method.

I used Stan's method of using a couple of trees and a come-along winch. First, I put dishwashing detergent with warm water inside the tubing for about an hour. Next, installed a couple of nylon chokers on each side of the joint with a pipe clamp just snug to keep them from slipping on each side. Attach between the two trees and start pulling the sized pieces apart. It is working surprisingly well, just make sure to check for divots that might meet to be drilled or slit through first.
