Greetings ADXA Folks,
A nice, 40 degree, "first day of spring" today but it also marks the time I
declare the 160 meter season over until late October. Sadly there were no
new ones this year unless SV/A counts, otherwise I will be stalled at 291 in
my journey to 300. I had hoped the VU4AX crew would have fulfilled their
commitment to be on during our very short window from 1200-1230z but they
seemed to ignore (intentionally?) NA during the prime and only window and
was only on to accommodate EU.
So I will begin rolling up Beverages and taking down the BSEF-8 160 array
tomorrow to make way for hay cutting in a few months. I leave the HiZ-8 160
and YCCC-9 verticals up during the summer as they are not located in a "hay
cutting area" but I do remove all of the related electronic components and
store them otherwise the lightning would consume them throughout the summer.
I do not plan to install my Beverages this fall. They are basically "backup"
and I have been asked to test two new phased vertical array designs that
will be fixed toward EU so the only available area for installation would be
impacted by the Beverages. In addition there is also a new HiZ-8 design I've
been asked to test as well. 30 acres can become crowded when testing full
size 160 meter receive arrays!!
The only DXpeditions currently scheduled for the 2025-26 season that I need
on 160 is 3Y Bouvet and C9 Mozambique. Maybe another one or two will appear
so the hunt continues.
In the meantime stay alert in case a new one sneaks in then you know what to
do.........
