I thought so. I remember her. She would check in to the Arkansas nets and I’ve worked her when I would be net control (many, many years ago !!!!)

She got a license out of self defense, I think. She was WA5RCK and went thru the Novice year and then got her General. She would actually get on the air and operate some. My dad refused to study for his license, saying he was the “engineer”. I was operating club station KA2DX in Japan in 72-74 and actually worked her on 15 CW a few times.

It is imperative to note that Dennis, WA5IIS (now W5RZ) served as the ARRL Section Communications Manager (the predecessor of the Section Manager) in the late 60’s !!!!

And, please correct me (and forgive me) if I’m wrong Dennis, but didn’t your mother also have a license??

Thanks to all who congratulated me for my 60 year ARRL membership certificate. It’s not really an achievement, just takes clean living and good doctors. ……Well, …good doctors anyway!

I also give credit to my mom, who made the first installment payment on a life membership when I was young. Since I was going off to college and almost certain military service, that was a smart thing to do to keep my membership in force.

73,
