I think ZF5T could be worked with a coat hanger antenna here in Arkansas LOL.
Congratulations Stan & crew on a super location to NA.

I was listening on 160 about the time W5RZ was calling but my antenna just couldn’t get through. Signal was about S8 with QRN running S7 to S9 at times. But I was only running 100w in the contest.

Maybe the storms will die down and maybe try one night this week with a KW on my end if anyone wants to try.

W1VE was operating on 160 and I was listening on another rig and antenna. I heard W5RZ calling and tried to get W1VE to go back to him even though he apparently didn’t hear Dennis, but I was not successful through N1MM messaging. W1VE was operating remotely from NH. Apparently the noise went lower after midnight or so. I saw they made some contacts that were not possible earlier. I went to sleep about 0630Z.

I was the operator on a couple of bands, including 10m this morning, when N5QS and N5QT worked us - very loud.

We appreciate all the contacts.

She got 80 - 40 - 20 in 3 minutes and added 160 with honest 599 23 minutes later.
I took 33 minutes to get them on those 4 bands but was sharing the radio we both could have done better alone.
Got 10 and 15 this morning.
All the contacts were honest 599 that suprised me on 160.

Jay and Nick,

160 is tough, as others will attest. I think I have 29 on that band after 62 years on the air. I’m slowly trying to work up to semi-mediocrity. I could copy ZF5T even though static from the storms was fierce. The pennant antenna quieted the noise somewhat.

I was running about 400 watts to a sorry inverted-L and it took quite a few calls. I heard VY work them and VR was in there calling. The inv-L runs up about 50 feet over a tree and the far end is probably about 30 feet up. Not really an L, with the sloping leg. It also has only one radial. I’m going to do better next winter!

Hi Nick,
I got the unclean sweep as well, LOL. I tried to get them on 160 by loading into a window screen. Not really, but not that far from the truth! I got a few " ?'s " a few times and I did my best to vary the speed, change the frequency just a tad for a little different tone, none of the tricks worked. Then with all the RF in the shack from my lash up, it reset the computer with a few other crashes. Just now working through those.

It was fun getting them on 80m through 20m the first night. Then early Saturday morning got them on 15m and they asked me to move up to 28.066. I did and they were strong there. So, it didn't take long to get them on the normal bands. I was a bit shocked to hear Howdy on 20m or I thought I copied that, but there was QRM so I just stuck the routine exchange.

Great fun, but wish I could have got them on 160m! My fault with not real 160m antenna here.

I made the unclean sweep of 80 - 10. My TV modem objects to 160 meter operations.

Good deal, Steve! I’m hoping for less thunder tonight to finish 40, 80, and 160. That may take more than 3 minutes, though!

Tough getting them on 160m last night with my poor antenna ... but got a QSB peak and QRN dip. So today finished off all 6 bands with a 10m QSO this morning. The "pressure" is off, hihi.
