[ADXA] Heil Pro 7 Headset

Hi Trent just rebuilt a Pro 7 here.  Most would have thrown it away if you saw it, but I just couldn't do it!  Now it looks like brand new!  Wish I had taken before and after pictures.

You can do a mild rebuild like ear muffs, gel pads, mic windscreen, etc.  If you have a bad ear driver, those are usually glued inside the cup and you might want to send those in.

When Bob was alive, he chewed me out for not sending back a bad hand switch.  It was glued together so I just pitched it.  Bob would usually fix most things for free.  Often times just replacing it if needed.  I usually do most of my own work and didn't think to send in the hand switch!

The new company seems great.  I had to order a few parts to make my Pro 7 like new again.  I think it was well under $60 or so.  These are so expensive, it was worth it to me to get it going again.  At the same time, I got a nice Radio Sport Headset to compare with.  It needed some rebuild parts as well.  Most would not notice the difference in TX quality, but the Heil mic sounds better than the RS on transmit.  Current mic element for the Pro 7 is the IC electret condenser.  I do like the RS carbon fiber look.  They both are very good headsets, but I am not sure I would buy new unless I got a deal.  Now that I got the Heil rebuilt, it looks and wears nice.  I put on new cloth coverings and have extra for washing when needed.  I still have the Radio Sport in standby, hi.

Every part use to be available, not sure now?  It came with a complete breakdown of parts!

The Audio Technica is also very good headset, but not as rugged as the Heil, but for home use probably better all around!   You see these all the time on TV, they also very good broadcast for TV and sporting events.

That is all I know.  I wish Bob was still around.  He was a good friend for sure!

I'd like to hear from someone using this headset.  The ear covers have begun to crack and leak a gelatinous substance that gets in what little hair I have left.

Anyone had experience with this - including replacing from Heil, or are there higher quality replacements?
