I never work 60 because of rig deficiencies, but in this case I made an exception. The old Icom 756 proII was lit off on 60 after hearing VP2VI on CW. It will do about 20 watts on that band, but contacts have been so easy I figured that was enough. It didn’t take long to realize that I had changed the plug on the key to a smaller one to fit the 991a. By the time I found an adapter, they had switched to ft8. I then tried to work them ft8 and my usb sound card had hosed up and when I rebooted, the pc decided it needed an update. Finally after quite sometime, it all came together and I was able to work them on 60. I sure enjoy the operation and sound from the Icom. It is much more pleasing to my ears than the 991a. I hung around and made a few contacts on 60, both DX and stateside. A pretty fun evening working a band I hardly ever use.
