STRONG SOLAR FLARE: The quiet has ended. Earlier today, sunspot AR3842 produced an M7.6-class solar flare (movie<https://www.spaceweather.com/images2024/30sep24/m7_teal.gif>) and a shortwave radio blackout over the Pacific Ocean. AR3842 has a delta-class magnetic field that harbors energy for even stronger X-class<https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/10109> flares.
