I really enjoyed your presentation, Bill. I remember working the CW DX contest with you and Randy at Randy’s QTH in the 70’s. I don’t remember much about it except Randy up 80 feet adjusting the gamma matches on the quad right before the contest started. I’m pretty sure you were there - that was a long time ago.

I’d like to see video of Kevin doing 2BSIQ. That looks hard enough, but maintaining that level of concentration for hours is amazing. But, we know Kevin is a special kind of contester!

Looks like I need to go back out in the woods and attach the radial to the 160 antenna. Maybe even a second radial.

Great meeting in general - more on that later.

Great ADXA annual meeting yesterday – TKS, Joel, E J and all those who worked on it. I appreciated the reception to my presentation. It was fun preparing it.

Please Stan, K5GO’s, note to me Friday showing a picture and a video of the two new tribanders he built of his own design for contesting from “the Brac”. It is below. One thing I could not get to load on my program yesterday was the video of the lower tribander…look to the bottom of the “string” - you can download it to see how it is working…bear in mind that Stan has gone from two 20’ boom tribanders on his 60’ tower to two 36’ boom tribanders on the 78’ tower – 4 on 20, 5 on 15, 8 on 10. As you can read below, his son, Kevin, N5DX, is travelling down to Cayman Brac and will operate Single OP/HP, 2BSIQ (see below) from ZF5T in CQ WW CW contest next weekend. Stan has some challenges to fellow ADXA member, too!!!

And, of course, Stan, Chuck, KM5G and I will make it an all ADXA Team from ZF5T next February in the ARRL CW DX Contest, M/S LP - with those antennas, and our cumulative operating skill, we hope for ANOTHER WORLD RECORD 😊

Bill,

Attached is a video and still picture of the tribanders for your presentation.

I’ve got the lower one turning a lot slower than the upper. I will eventually redesign the antenna moving two elements forward that are near the middle. Will need to move them about 8 inches and change the element lengths. Then there will be a large enough gap to turn the thing from JA to almost due South. Right now I have JA to 110 degrees. Had to take the 2nd director on 20m down and bend the last four feet down in order to clear the top guy wire that goes North. It is only out 55 feet from the tower as compared to 68 feet for the other two. If I had put the guy anchor another 4 feet closer to the sea, I would not have had any problem. Of course bending that element down a little has no real effect on performance.

I put my wire cage for shunt feed on 160 back up but need to change the spacing a little and put some PVC arms on tower to hold it in place. Making progress on getting stuff ready so Kevin will have a good setup.

Changed the connectors on all the coaxes going to 9 Circle RX antenna and hope to get that working as it should tomorrow.

Contest within a contest - Kevin will be doing what’s called 2BSIQ (two band synchronized interleaved QSOs). If everything works well he will be making a lot of QSOs operating two bands simultaneously. I have trouble with one band but he is a lot better than me.
I am interested to see how many ADXA members will work him on 6 bands and in what order they complete all 6 bands. I’m putting my money on you know who but you never know for sure who will do it first.
