This weekend is the ARRL 160 meter contest. Not really a DX contest even though DX contacts have a higher QSO total, but with the large number of USA stations on the air it is difficult for us “W5 folks” to hear weak DX stations. This is a CW contest and the contest exchange is the signal report and your ARRL section, e.g. 599 AR. DX stations you may work will only send a signal rpt.

You won’t really work any DX, but you can pooch up your 160 meter WAS totals if needed or have a lot of fun the fray.

I haven’t operated as a single op in this contest for several years, preferring to be a part of the N2CEI/K0DI multi-op in north Florida. I prefer operating my station in the CQWW 160 CW contest but nonetheless this one is an exciting event. I had planned to be in NFL with Steve and the gang for this year’s contest however one of the hurricanes that blew through a couple of months ago took the roof off of the building where the shack is located. So plans were cancelled for this year.

I will be on this weekend from here, but not a full effort……..unless I change my mind!! 😊

So, GET IN THERE and have some fun on 160 meters this weekend.
