[ADXA] I Want My MTV !

Thanks, Joel - I agree 100%   I was tickled to get 5BWAS certificate no. 40
back in the early 70's, but only that and DXCC has caused me to have any
awards excitement at all.  I'm not sure how I got to #1, just that I kept
at it with some notable lapses.  My last one was Chesterfield.  Someone had
been there a few years before the one I worked, and I missed it because of
a piddly hernia surgery.  Just because I couldn't lift a milk carton for a
few weeks is no excuse to miss a DXpedition!  I paid for that one by adding
a few years to getting to the top.  Lesson learned.

Mt. Athos was a struggle, along with a few others.  I wouldn't trade it for
anything.  If it was easier to get 300, or Honor Roll, or #1, it would take
too much away from the program.  Should we put an elevator on Mt. Everest
so everyone could "climb" it?  I'll never climb Everest, but I'm proud and
have fond memories of climbing Mt. Fuji.  That was hard enough for me!

I came home from an ADXA meeting one Saturday afternoon and was fired up as
usual after a meeting.  P5/4L4FN was just booming in on 15 SSB.  I got him
after just a few calls.

Those who are on the way up - it will happen for you a little bit at a time
even if life occasionally gets in the way.
