Joel,

I am leaving tomorrow to go to Cayman Brac for a week (10/14-10/21). Anyone wanna come with me? Leaving at 6:00 AM tomorrow morning. 😃

It was determined there was some lightening damage at the station. To replace stuff that is thought to be damaged, I am taking in baggage - two new monitors, one TS-590SG, a SPE 2K-FA. (Crossing fingers on safe arrival of that beast), 12 new preamps and combiner for 9 circle, two StarGate USB hubs and lots of little stuff. I have it rented to a couple of guys for the phone contest and am spending more in travel and excess baggage to try to make things work than I’m taking in.

Rita and I are then leaving on November 9 and coming back February 20.

I was excited to see you had KO8SCA coming. I always wondered who KO8SCA was and did a little research on him after seeing your announcement. I sent him an email shortly after doing my research.

ADXA has not and probably never will change me into a true DX Hound, but it has made baby steps with me. There have been several instances where I have seen posts/spots and have gone to the radio room to work someone for the fun of it - mostly not logged. I looked at LOTW for the first time in a few years. Not knowing that CQ stuff was also tracked I was interested in finding that I had 199/200 zones confirmed in LOTW for 80-10 CW. I looked up the one needed to complete that and saw that it is Zone 18 on 80m.

Also thought I had worked all the current countries except for North Korea and Pratis but saw that I needed three confirmed in LOTW. The other one is Z6 (Kosovo)! I told W9DCT and Dennis sent me a couple of messages to tell me when they were on over the last couple of weeks. One was on SSB and he probably would have been gone before I could find a microphone. In both cases, however, I was on the golf course at the time of the alerts.

Looking forward to working many of you in some of the contests I’ll participate in from ZF. Maybe I’ll even get on some band I’ve never been on, like 12m, and see a email spot from some ADXA member saying ZF9CW is on 24.???? . I’ll have to look up the frequency allocation for 12m first. 😃. The weather is getting cooler and my focus is changing to radio rather than golf just like it has for the last 50+ years.

I hope you have a great meeting and conference.

73 to everyone.

Stan, K5GO/ZF9CW & ZF5T in most contests

We would like to know the reason why those of you who are not planning to attend won’t be there. I know of two who have valid reasons for not be able to attend this year but I don’t understand the low interest from others. Are you no longer interested in DX? Is there something we can do to reignite the excitement?

The annual meeting is important for our organization and this feedback will help us understand and better plan for future events. We have put forth a great effort and expense to bring in a world renowned DX’er as our special guest, the ARRL President and Section Manager (and hopefully Division Director) will be attending as well as all of the ADXA BIG DOGS. John and Brenda, N5ER & KC5CFE have done an amazing job obtaining sponsors for prizes.
