This is a great loss for us.  Fred was especially active in all the IARU member society national events.  I always felt it was important for US stations to support the smaller contests.  I last worked him in the LZ DX contest in November.  He was a real "mainstay" on the bands.

Bernie reported his passing this morning.  Fred was a great Dxer and contester.  One of the friendliest ops I have known.  He lived right across the river from me in Alexandria.
