[ADXA] Latest 3Y0J Update

I notice that the 3Y0J has asked hams NOT to call on FT8 if you have worked them on SSB or CW. They keep saying they want all DXers who have already worked them to let others get in the log too. But, no log yet, so many still call on FT8 that already have him. Going to be hard for someone who needs 3Y0J on digital for an ATNO to NOT call if already worked on SSB/CW. We shall see who does not follow instructions on the FT8 request. If more stations were on from 3Y0 then would be less of a problem. IIWII. The weather remains an issue today and into tomorrow. GL to all… follow their rules and call accordingly. 👍

I haven’t called them yet since I haven’t been hearing them well and I have it for DXCC. Last night, I heard them fairly well on 30M in the evening, but only by using my triband beam. This happens occasionally on the lower bands, where the best S/N ratio is obtained by turning the beam to peak the signal and null the noise. They were solid copy except when covered up by idiots.
I have a 30M EFHW that is vertical but i’m not sure it would take the legal limit of 200 watts. I plan to put up a sloping dipole with the tower as a reflector if it ever stops raining. I think with that and a couple hundred watts, I’d stand a fighting chance. One thing I noticed is that the pileup is spread out a lot, so good CW pileup skills might let me sneak in somewhere.
i have Bouvet on 15 SSB, so I’d like a CW contact, but just following their exploits is interesting.

Agree Steve,
Didn't work them. I also stayed up till (finally) their signal got solid copy... Amazing the signal levels of some of the QRM. Way over S9+. Very short window when I had good copy and when they went QRT. Massive pileup left behind, LOL. Hope that changes, hihi.
Really surprised at the [obvious] number of different stations involved in the QRM. Add in an abundance of police, and it makes it rough.

Thanks Joel. I could copy them on 30 CW last night but there are numerous ops constantly jamming them when they come back. I stayed up late enough until they went to QRT. It never stopped. I believe the guys throwing the huge amp carriers are in the south based on their signals on 30 meters at night. I am seeing lots of stations calling on 15 FT8 now but not seeing evidence of QSOs. I am not printing them and don't expect to.
I don't know if this is true or not but a friend in MD says ops up there are working them on 30 CW on wires and 100 watts. I don't know if I believe that or not.
The behavior of US hams in this instance has been very disappointing. I assume they got bored with 75 meters.
GL to all,

3Y0J Bouvet Island 2023 Update:
3Y0J Team Co-Leader Rune LA7THA says,
“Marama has moved back to a position outside of Cap Fie for the incoming storm.
The team is in good spirits despite difficult conditions. They get two warm meals a day plus snacks. They are working very hard.
Today they started operating FT8 on 21.105 F/H.
The team has made about 5,000 QSO’s in less than 48hours of operation.
Weather forecast says there will be high winds in the next 24 hours. We will need to secure the antennas. This may impact operation. The operation will remain on the air as long as possible weather permitting.
Reminder: If you have Bouvet on CW or SSB please do not work us on FT8. It may be the only chance the little pistols have to get their ATNO.”
