This is from VU4N via DX-World:
"The equipment coming over from VU7 will be available on December 16 at VU4
for pickup. Will get to work in the morning. The electrician will come in
to setup the 3 phase supply in the morning"
So 4 complete rigs with amplifiers on one table do draw an ampere or two!
Maybe 3 phase is the norm for above-normal loads in India or on the
islands. More power to him, because I need the VU4 bands.
I am primarily a CW operator but in the quest for 1500 Challenge points,
I'm going where the DX is and often it is FT8. I've observed several
things over and above my confusion about the different modes of operation.
I've made several DXpedition contacts on the standard frequencies,
particularly with T32TT. I don't know if it is hard to find a dedicated
frequency, or if they go there when activity slows down, but several times
I've seen stations start calling CQ right on top of them. I lost a contact
with XT2AW this morning due to that (but I kept the BIC and worked him
again a few minutes later). It gets strange when someone covers up one
stream of a multi-stream operation. You are copying the DX, but only part
of what he sends.
