If it wasn’t for some local friends running up nice totals on the Challenge, I’d be perfectly content to ignore it. However, noticing that my Challenge total was just 941 inspired me to at least try to break 1000. Then to catch up with my friends, I need to get up to 1300 or wherever they are at the time.
I’ve gotten some good advice on keeping up with what I need, but at this point, I need so much that it’s, well…..challenging.
I have been working DX since 1963 and I loaded all my logs into DXKeeper starting with 1987. However, I think for 87 and 88, and maybe a couple of more years, I just put in the better ones and left out common DX. I could upload more old contacts, but I’m not sure if the number of Lotw hits that far back would be worth it.
The surprise is how many I have mixed DXCC credit for that don’t show band information. These were QSL cards submitted decades ago. I guess the way to get Challenge credit is to resubmit the QSL or get Lotw credit for another station.
I pasted a DXCC list into Excel and will update it with what I have credit for and use that to try to fill in the blanks with old QSL cards and new contacts. I think that will be easier than scrolling up and down on a computer screen while looking at DXCC records. I know DXKeeper would probably give me real-time status on anything I hear IF I had uploaded everything to it. So much is so long ago that I’ve just decided that’s not the way I’m going to do it. It’s possible I could upload info to DXKeeper about which entities I have credit for even if those contacts aren’t all recorded in DXKeeper, but I haven’t found any way to do that yet.
