Excellent summary Joel.. great hobby for us and so many ADXA members assisting others with their website DX spots and general comments of note. Yep, we are now in a different variety of “good ole days” and shows how the hobby continues to survive and so many DXers “still out there” no matter what mode or what current solar #s are and what part of an 11 year Solar Cycle we are in. 😊 These days for those members in their 40s and to early 60s now will look back in a few years to THESE good ole days. Some of us won’t be around to comment on the GREAT good ole days of the 50s to mid 70s. Heck, that’s a HALF CENTURY ago!! HI HI

Fun stuff until you call and call for hours and can not get thru to the rare DX station you need for an ATNO or perhaps a new band. Then you yell at your wife and scream even if by yourself and wife is gone! 😄 Sometimes my heart beats so fast, running from the PC desk seat to one of the 2 radio setups I have spread across the room. Then there’s 2-3 paper sheets at the PC, writing down band and modes and who I’m calling and then taking that data across the room to start dialing up frequencies, changing amplifier setting and plugging different coax into the tuners. Fun stuff…. most of the time. IIWII

Subject: [ADXA] The "Good Ole Days" of DX'ing

Greetings ADXA Folks,
When were the "Good Ole Days" of DX'ing?
Well, that depends on who you ask! ADXA is about to begin our 56th year of existence. We still have one of the original members from that first meeting on June 29, 1987 with us - San K5YY (K5HQS back in those "good ole days").
For me, it was when I first started DX'ing back in the early 70's. Those were some very good ole days. Receiving a signals from a distant land on my little radio built from a kit was magical.
So what's your point here, Harrison? Its simple. We've just come out of almost three years of world lock down due to a pandemic. The world literally stopped. Our DX world stopped and went in to radio silence. Its now November 2022 and I just updated our website to note that T88WA is now ON THE AIR! ADXA folks, that gives us 4, yes FOUR DXpedition currently on the air; P29, J28, 5V, and T88. Two have just ended, TY and VK9 and three more scheduled to fire up this month.
There is literally more DX out there than you can shake a stick at ! After a three year drought we're now drinking from a fire hose!
These ARE the "Good Ole Days" of DX! So, you know what to do........
GET IN THERE AND WORK 'EM !!!!!!!
