Yep Pat.. Just a bit longer than Nick! hi
Passed my Novice test in late 1957 and operated at my mentor’s shack in Stuttgart using his call since he said his signature on my code test proved the written test would firm up my actual call coming in a few weeks. So in early 1958, got my KN5QHS and then the General Class K5QHS was in the summer of 1958. So about 65 years for me in Fall of 2022 passing all the tests per se, with the General K5QHS being 64 years old this summer.. Got K5YY in 1977, 45 years ago. Fond memories. I actually have the ARRL Morse Code certificate with endorsement to 15WPM in early 1957, way before taking the written test was taken for my Novice license.

Congratulations on 60+ years Nick. You really are an OT! Anyone in ADXA licensed longer than Nick?
I got my Novice in May, 1964. I recall you telling me once that you found me in one of your early paper logs…WN5KAK/WA5KAK? Like Steve, W5KI, I lost my original Novice and General license. My “shack” was in a rental house my Mom and Dad owned and they sold it while I was in the Navy. My dad (WN5TXC-SK) retrieved my radio gear and took down all the wire antennas but by the time he thought of my logs, QSL’s etc, they were mostly gone (not to mention my stash of Playboy mags!). My earliest log is a WA5KAK log that starts in Aug, ’66. Also lost my original 1st Phone license from ’72.
Enjoy your day Nick!
73,
Pat, W5VY

Hey, I just realized over breakfast that this is an important date. I became a ham 60 years ago. If you don't believe me, ask C.B. Plummer or Ben F. Waple.
So, maybe time for a brief QSO in between naps.
Give me a call on:
3548 kHz 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM or 1400 - 1500Z
7027 kHz 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM or 1530 to 1630Z
14035 kHz 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM or 1700 - 1800Z
7027 KC 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM or 0100 - 0130 GMT
3548 KC 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM or 0130 - 0200 GMT
You may receive a crypto-NFT. But probably not.

Nick, WA5BDU
