[ADXA] ARRL's DXCC Challenge Award

ARRL's DXCC Challenge Award has received increased mention among the 
ADXA folks in recent weeks, due in part to the "friendly" competition 
within the Pope County ADXA enclave of Russellville!

Since the topic of deleted entities and achieving DXCC Honor Roll became 
a discussion point here and nationally, and following Bill, K5FUV's 
excellent educational presentation at our annual meeting regarding 
achieving Honor Roll it occurred to me that, while achieving DXCC Honor 
Roll is a goal every ADXA member should set as a priority it will take 
some time to methodically acquire the DXCC countries outstanding on your 
list.

As an alternative, the DXCC Challenge Award is equally impressive and 
should be a priory goal of every ADXA member as well. Building up the 
different credits is quite exciting. Once you hit the initial 1,000 mark 
you are well on your way and those endorsements at 500 increments 
provides you with not only an additional medallion for your plaque but 
BRAGGING RIGHTS at the next meeting (or even here on our reflector)!

If you work England "G" on 10 bands (160 thru 6 meters excluding 60 
meters) you have earned 10 band credits, so it can add up quickly, and 
you are not required to have 100 countries on a band for it to add the 
your DXCC Challenge total!

The higher bands are coming alive with DX and it is all right in front 
of you to simply work, get it confirmed (much easier today with all the 
LoTW participation), and hang that plaque on the wall in your shack.

I remember well my excitement when I would reach another 500 level. 
Those who have been on this reflector for a while recall one of my DXCC 
goals was to reach the pinnacle "3,000" DXCC Challenge mark.To be quite 
honest, that was more exciting than my achieving DXCC Honor Roll. The 
3,000 mark is a much smaller, more prestigious, group!!!!!!
