Greetings ADXA Folks,

In 1965, and again in 1972, Neil Sedaka recorded a hit song "Breaking Up
Is Hard to Do".

Catching up is hard to do as well, most likely more difficult! I was
extremely pleased to arrive home a little over a week ago after
completing my last trip for the year (hopefully)! This summer has been
way too busy with travel, something I retired from at the end of 2018,
or thought so, but it seems everything I still have some involvement in
decided two years of Covid lock down and cancellation of in-person
meetings must all be crammed into the summer of 2022. At least, for now,
it is over and "catching up is hard to do!", but I'm working down my
catch-up list.

With Labor Day upon us and summer in the rear view mirror (sort of) I'm
beginning to focus on the upcoming contest and DX season just a few
weeks away and working on a couple of antenna projects that took a back
seat the past three months. The bands are in great shape. Its the middle
of the night as I write this (3:00 AM and after) and 20 meters is loaded
with VK's and ZL's working EU and NA. We have DXpeditions about to fire
up in a few short weeks and the low bands will be coming to life.

How are your antenna and station projects progressing? Are you ready?
And what about your amateur radio and DX goals? You don't have a list?
Make one!!!! We've talked about goals quite a bit here in the past. I
was chatting with Lanny, K1LEC, at the local radio club breakfast
Saturday morning about "goals" and he noted his is to obtain 5BDXCC. He
has three bands in the bag and getting very close to DXCC on 40. 12 and
10 meters will be getting hot over the next year and beyond so his goal
is reachable! How is everyone else doing with their DX goals? Some of
you have just crossed the 1,000 band country mark for DX Challenge or
have crossed another "500" milestone or a very close.

So here's the 2022 fall challenge - reassess your goals, revise if
needed or as you progress and make a project list of antennas or station
improvements to accomplish that goal(s) by October 1!

September 17, 2022 - Brown's Catfish in Russellville 11:00 to 2:00 for
the 3rd Quarterly meeting of ADXA. I'm anxiously awaiting that day.
Since I missed the June meeting I'm hungry for some DX stories.....even
a few lies! The upcoming meeting means Glenn needs material for the
newsletter. Please send something in. ADXA nation wants to know what
you've been working on at your station, or what you have experienced on
the air. Please send details to Glenn. Inquiring minds need to know!

Annual Meeting - Nothing is firm at this time. I've been working a few
options. Let's see how they develop. We may not be back up to full speed
like we were in 2019 BC (Before Covid) just yet but we're getting there!

And while I'm on meetings and conferences, many of you are pursuing 6
meter DXCC and working a lot of DX on the band. Some are also pursuing
the Fred Fish Memorial Award (FFMA). So with that in mind, please block
off July 28-29, 2023 on your calendar for the Central States VHF Society
Conference in Little Rock, AR, actually in NLR at the Riverfront Wyndham
where we have held a couple of annual ADXA conferences. This will be
CSVHFS's 55th annual conference. It has only been held one other time in
Arkansas in 1997. This year's conference in LaCrosse, WI had 140
attending from all over the USA and Canada. This is not a typical
"hamfest" but a technical conference with a published proceedings on
everything VHF, particularly 6 meters. ADXA members will want to attend
this event!

In the meantime you know what to do...."GET IN THERE AND WORK 'EM"!!!!!

C U September 17 and until then, GL es DX.
