*NOISE*
I may be the only guy in our whole group that understands W5PIG.
He is a great guy. Never sells any equipment, but gives away plenty.
However, he thinks from the other side of his brain. Right handed, Left
Brained.
No wonder he never learned CW.

I'm going to make a confession.
For YEARS, I waited until the last minute to renew.
At the last Minute, ARRL would offer me a free antenna book if I would
renew my membership. I got a free book every year, for several years.
I gave the books to New guys, who passed their CSCE. It was fun for me &
the new guys seemed to appreciate the books.

NOPE, No Free Antenna Book this year.
-- I'm N5QJ, and there is no shame in my game.

I got my Life Membership the year I got married (1968) on the installment
plan: $16.25 for eight quarters. Best ham radio investment I ever made!
The XYL’s been a good sport despite the shack being in the master bedroom
and guy wires across our living room window’s beautiful view of Mt.
Ascutney (VT) 1975-1992!

Joel, I’ve got you beat by a couple of years. When I was 17 or 18 years
old, my mother asked me if I’d like an ARRL Handbook for my birthday. I
had a fairly recent one, so I told her I’d rather have the first
installment payment on my ARRL Life membership. I think it was $14 or so,
paid quarterly for two years. Almost 60 years later, I can see that was a
good move!

Jonathan,
ARRL Life Membership can be viewed a couple of different ways. First, the
lifetime rate is based on 25 years times the annual membership dues. If you
don't expect to live another 25 years then you won't realize a "benefit",
so to speak, other than an offset of any future dues increase however on
the other hand if you don't expect to make it another 25 years you can
consider it a could contribution to "the cause" (but its not tax
deductible!).
I purchased a life membership 40 years ago so I'm on cruise control !!!!
That's all I have to say about that !

Yes. Welcome.
I'm wondering...
At what age is it too late to get a "lifetime Membership" to ARRL. I'm 59
years old.
Is it too late? Have I passed the point where I would save myself some
money?

P.S. If N2RJ runs for ARRL President, She has my vote.
