Scott - tnx for this post.
I was on 40 meter CW last night buttoning up a near mint Drake 2C
receiver I'm selling and wasn't on 20, but I can tell you that Chak,
JT1CO has a very impressive station that will burst through when others
won't.
Here's a bit of trivia regarding W5ZG. John's Novice call was WN5HRI and
he was my very first contact as a licensed radio amateur. In later years
after we "reacquainted" with our new W5Z calls he still had in his files
my Novice QSL card I sent him and he insisted I accept it as a gift from
him, which I gladly did! I have it secured in my safe along with my old
Novice license.
John and I have been in big hairy CW pileups before, duking it out when
the DX station sends W5Z?? Of course, the difference between an "N" and
a "G" on CW is easily confused under adverse conditions.
