[ADXA] Suggestion. Use BCC and NOT cc if at all possible!

So true Steve. Good added point! In those cases you just reply to “sender” (reply) and not “reply all”. I always look closely at “reply all” and what one says that could hurt someone. In case of a DX spot or general DX comment, reply all is safe usually. It’s when one’s comment is degraded or an idea or their comment is argued for all to see is not right. Do that privately.

In the case of hackers, they can take a comment a person has made in the past and that person never thought it would later be part of a possible scam “attachment” link email to a group.. That’s why I hated to see W5SJ’s May 2018 comment come up as part of this mornings hacker attempt to get someone to open the “Attachment”, thinking that Bill was so well known that the attachment was approved by Bill.. NO WAY. Bill sends private emails or calls like most of us do and would question an “attachment” situation like the scam this morning. I tried to email Bill to have him comment on the hacker but the line was constantly busy for sure reason. Malwarebytes and Webroot do NOT usually catch this kind of intrusion to someone’s email list of friends.
TU again and hope all OK east of the Mississippi River.

All good Internet hygiene.  I'll add, be VERY careful about replying to ALL when there are blind copies.  What you say will generally go to those recipients.  If you say something not nice about one of them to the sender, they will see it.  People have lost wives, jobs and friends over this.  :)))))))))))))))))))))

Got phone call from friend in FL who is in charge of preventing hackers from getting into your email lists and resending spam to each one of them. He works with 6-7 hospitals in the south FL area.
1. Do NOT use “CC” to send an email copy to many people with just the one TO person at top. Use BCC of your list you want to get a copy of an email intended for the person or two at the top under TO”.
2. The TO line can have 1-2 email addresses if you like but never put several email addresses on the TO line. That is what BCC and CC are for, but unfortunately the CC addresses are private to many of us who use that email address for other entities, organizations, web sites, etc..
3.  Use BCC out of respect for the privacy of others.

Jay W5JAY has a good system where the from and to are his call at both places. The “to” has HIDDEN email addresses of many hams but nobody sees them. Same as a list of several guys on a BCC list.. Just forget using CC as much as possible unless you have a small list (hackers LOVE getting into a CC list of dozens of valid individual emails!)  If you get into a situation like this, have your email REMOVED from the CC list of the person who sent the email. Have them put your email address under BCC only. That is a valid request based on what’s going on recently by hackers wanting you to click on an attachment. DO NOT CLICK the attachment! Re-email the sending person at a known valid address if you are unsure, and ask if he sent an email with attachment to you and others.
Sorry about this information  taking time to read,  but just wanted all of us to be aware of hackers our there looking for large CC lists anywhere, ham sites or otherwise. They increased 300% in 2020!
Stay safe during the worsening times. They say we are in for a worse hit this summer than last. Hope not… 73
