Cool story!!! I don’t want to hijack thread but I have a KH story too. I was a brand new SS agent in Miami. I was assigned to the KH detail. He was coming to Orlando, my hometown. He had been dating my neighbor, growing up, Honey Rex, who he met while she was tour guide at Disney. His wife had been killed in accident. My later to be wife lived in an apartment complex by Honey. Small town. KH had been sneaking into town with no entourage, he wanted to marry her. Touchy, she’s southern Protestant debutant. Everyone knew but didn’t talk about it due to Rex’s being prominent family and friends. So this was to be the public announcement. Media all over world descended on Orlando. Somehow they found out I was on his detail. Major personalities were all over my mother for scoop. Of course we weren’t talking. There was a big party on Lake Virginia thrown by a buddy of mine. Finally, the mother, could take no more. She announced to the Orlando Sentinel they were to be married. Shorty after the edition hit the streets and national media, we were summoned to AP to board KH’s 727. He was in left seat. We flew to DC where we all got off, he went back to JY. Honey never heard from him again. Talk about jumping the gun. In those days, whenever KH came to US, every agent on the detail was given a Rolex watch!!!!!
