[ADXA] CW Skimmer question

Not always, so it seems to be conditions related, but often while I am
listening an otherwise quiet band and hear a faint station, when I turn on
CW Skimmer I get more noise--sometimes enough to wipe out the station I
hear. I've looked at settings in CWS and even experimented with them but it
doesn't seem to make any difference. Any clue as to what might cause this?
