Thank you, Jay and the others who have posted for the congrats and urging me
to press on for the award. Thought the certificate might come in the mail
today to post and share (it didn't), but the serial number is the sweet
thing--the lowest of any certificate to date I have received. Don (K5DB)
told me to get those low numbered certificates! :-)
As most of you probably well know, the actual certificate is anti-climax.
The big excitement is in the chase! A couple of months after I got my ticket
and started to get on HF (May 2019), I set a goal for obtaining three
certificates: DXCC, Triple Play, and Worked All Zones awards. Two are
complete and the third (WAZ) is so very close and yet so very far away,
hi--just needing zones 22, 26, and a confirm for 23. I committed to striving
after these awards using 100 watts and a wire, so I am tickled by my success
and humbled by your encouragement and congrats. Jay, Rory, Joel, Pat, Rick
and the others here on the reflector have been so encouraging to get on the
air and make CW contacts. Trent (N4DTF), my Elmer, has been very helpful in
urging me to get on the phone! A couple of new email acquaintances, Dan
Murphy (K7IA) in NM, and Ned Linch (N4LS) in AL--as well as Rick
(AI5P)--have lately really pushed me to finish up the award. So thank you
all.
I can't forget Paul Dixon (K5YH, SK) taking the time to coach me on the
phone in making first time FT4 contacts--to Gabon and Chad of all places!
Really miss his natural, smiling excitement in helping the new hams.
What I've heard is undoubtedly true in my experience: Ham radio is the best
hobby in the world!
Thanks, gud DX, es 73,
Scott/W5AAJ

Hi ADXA Gurus!
Check this out, I just happen to see the below by accident.
About a month ago Scott W5AAJ said he had one more CW contact to go to
finish the ARRL Triple Play award. This evening while helping another ham
get set up with LOTW and showing them the LOTW web site I noticed that Scott
made Triple Play number 2406. My memory is so bad these days this could be
old news and I could have said congrats weeks ago? With over 70% of the
hams now on digital modes this is NOT so easy to get the 50 states on CW
and SSB! Especially with solar conditions being so bad at times!
Anyway congratulations Scott and way to hang in there.
That is a very nice award! 73 de jay/w5jay..
P.S. Please see below
Scott hang in there and the most important thing is to have fun! Don't
forget to get in a few contests this fall. That will speed things up for
you in more than one way, hi.
73 de jay..

Been on the CW airwaves, Jay. And spending more and more time with CW. Just
a slow process for me. But I am one CW QSL away from Triple Play and have
started down the road to CW DXCC with a dozen confirmed contacts :-). Trying
to spend more time drilling again. Want to be independent from software
aids.
Hard starting at 64 yo, now 66. But I am progressing ever so slowly.
I'll try to make the OWS meeting this Saturday but a lot going on with
family on the weekends.
Hope to see you nonetheless,
Scott
