(1) After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country as a Radioman 2nd class aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. After the Navy, Ed worked at Western Electric/Lucent Technologies for over 40 years till retirement. Ed was an avid ham radio operator all his life.

(2) Ed was an avid Amateur Radio Operator, and his personal call sign was W8REW. For many years, I was able to chat with him and his friends on the air. He was a gentleman, an excellent radio operator, and a great story teller. The airwaves won't be the same without him. 73 and RIP, Ed. Mike Gorniak, NM7X  ,  June 06, 2020
