Sad to hear. I got to work WP3R back in August. Angel has a nice qrz page about its celebrity status.

It's explosive destruction will be more devastating to the radio world than any Vegas casino/hotel implosion. 900 tons of suspended electronics crashing down on the dish.

George - I had the privilege of being there in 1975. Impressive is an understatement! It was sad to read the news today.

I've been sorta expecting the Arecibo demise since the hurricane damage and subsequent cable failures. It's been a feature of the radio world for a LONG time and gone through many upgrades. Watched several Science Channel programs on it and would love to have seen it in person. It's impressive to say the least.

As for 160m, it's so far in the future to get a DXCC, I don't even think about it. But I do have 48 states. Guess which ones I need for WAS? My noise level is sometimes over S9, so that pretty much limits weak signals, even on FT8 and my rotator just doesn't move my property too well either, unlike some folks that can swing it around electronically. I did find a POE WW that was taking me to S+20 and removed it from service. Will give it so someone who doesn't use any radio receivers.

2335Z, just worked ZP9MCE on 80 FT8. Big signal. Guy is trying to
finish his 9 band DXCC. Just completed 160. I needed it for a new band
country.

On another, sad, note:
